Our sister church, Mt Vernon GMC, held their annual Sunrise service. As we entered the sanctuary, we lit a candle from a central Christ Candle, reminding us where our light comes from. Then we join our candles together to remember the family of Jesus. Sun was streaming through the stained glass windows. We had scripture reading, hymns, special music and Holy Communion. There was also a flowering cross. We sing about the Old Rugged Cross but the flowering cross reminds us that even ugly things can be made new and beautiful with Jesus.
And, of course, as what Methodists usually do, we ate. There was so much good breakfast food and no one could possibly have left hungry.
What a wonderful way to begin Easter. He is risen!
