A Night with Nara, 10/17/2023

Sapling Ridge GMC and Piney Grove GMC invite all to attend A Night with Nara.

Nara Melkonyan is the Country Director of Project AGAPE in Armenia since July 4 of 1997. She will be with us at Piney Grove GMC on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 7p. You are invited to come to hear how Project AGAPE is active and making a difference in the lives of Christians in Armenia. We will take a Love Offering to support the ministry.

Armenia was the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 A.D.  The Apostles Thaddeus and Bartholomew were the first evangelizers of Armenia and, according to tradition, were martyred there.

Christianity has played an immensely important role in the shaping of the Armenian people for over 1,700 years. Religion has been an essential part of Armenian identity and has reshaped the course of history.  Armenia is a land locked country in Asia bordered by Islamic countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Georgia.  Protecting the Christians of Armenia is a vital ministry.

Project AGAPE is a joint-ministry venture of the Western and North Carolina Conferences of the United Methodist Church and now adopted by the Global Methodist Churches in North Carolina.

AGAPE is a religious humanitarian organization, which has been invited by the Armenian Apostolic Church and registered by the State Council oRA Committee on Religious Affairs.
The Project cooperates well with the Armenian Apostolic Church. Project AGAPE was launched in 1993 and received the first state registration in 1994.

From the day of its foundation until now, AGAPE has adopted and committed to the following goals:

  • Share the love and hope of Christ with the people of Armenia
  • Contribute to the Christian education of the Armenian people
  • Develop humanitarian and benevolent activities

During 27-years of activities, AGAPE has led different projects, served people in
Kashatagh and in border villages, now serve the displaced people who had to leave due to the war in 2020.
